Hasedera in Kamakura has an annual memorial light event, but this is a special service to raise funds for disaster relief following the 2011.3.11 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan. Visitors may opt to purchase a candle in a cup; the proceeds are then pass on for charity work.
